California has an easy do it yourself divorce which is available to couples who meet the following requirements:

  1. One of the parties has lived in California for at least six months and in the County for at least three months prior to the filing of the Petition;
  2. There are no minor children of the relationship or marriage and the wife is not pregnant;
  3. Neither party owns any real estate;
  4. The couple’s debt is less than $5,000 (excluding automobile debt)
  5. The total value of the community property assets is less than $33,000; and
  6. Neither party has separate property debts in excess of $33,000.
