Last month millionaire Simon Taub built a wall in the center of his Brooklyn house; dividing the residence he shares with his estranged wife, Chana.

Apparently the whole thing started in 2005 when Chana got a protective order against Simon when the Judge issuing the order approved Simon’s request to build the wall. Chana went to the appellate court to try to stop him, but lost. (The appeal process took the better part of 2006.) So, the wall is up; dividing the house in 2. It goes through two floors of the Taub’s three-story house.

The New York Daily News called this “Brooklyn’s real life version of The War of the Roses (NY Daily News Article). A crowd gathered during the construction or, shall I say, “destruction” of the home. At one point, Chana was heard to yell: “They’re moving my shoes.” I think Chana’s got bigger problems than having her shoes moved. And, I’m trying hard to refrain from quoting Abe Lincoln. I think he said something about “A house divided.”
